Recipe Ingredient

  • 300g Shantung peanuts
  • 3 star anise
  • 5cm cinnamon stick
  • 5 dried chillies
  • 2.5 litres water
  • 100ml light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp thick soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 50g rock sugar


  1. Rinse, then soak peanuts overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Drain peanuts well and combine with the rest of the ingredients in a deep stockpot. Cook to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 2-3 hours or until the peanuts are tender to the bite. Dish out and serve with a little of the sauce as an accompaniment.
